Maggie for Hire ebook 56%:
Old Chinatown is a fun place. It was originally built as a shopping area by the local Asian population. Nowadays, the cobblestone courtyard and little trinket shops serve as a smoke screen for secret Mahjong halls and borderline sweat shops.
Love the description of Old Chinatown...cobblestone courtyards and trinket shops would be deceptively innocent. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the description in your 56 excerpt, but the book's cover turns me off. Vampires?
ReplyDeleteMy Friday post features HOOT.
I am not a fan of the cover either. I think so, it opened with Maggie fighting a vampire but I just started it. Not a book I would have bought normally, it was free on the Nook awhile ago so I decided to broaden my horizon and give it a try.
DeleteSounds like an interesting setting. Hope you enjoy and have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI'm not found of vampire books, but this sounds interesting.
Have a great day!
I love the descriptions, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an interesting setting for a story. This week I chose The Reluctant Duchess by Sharon Cullen from my review stack. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI love Mahjong, and I am intrigued by the bad ass chick on the cover.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
This sounds good and a nice cover.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't sound like a book I would typically pick up, but the description of Old Chinatown seems pretty spot-on for a lot of neighborhoods I've encountered over the years!
ReplyDeleteAnd just because it's not something I would TYPICALLY pick up, of course, doesn't mean that I won't. I just read some of the other quotes on Goodreads and now I think I HAVE to read it because I snorted my coffee.
DeleteI've been wanting to check this one out for a while. Thanks for sharing!
